CDP (learn this acronym) The Community Development Plan is a document in the early stages of development that will help define & guide the future of the Hilo/ Hamakua coast.  The  more than $400,000 funding is in the county budget.

HHCDC is the Hilo Hamakua Community Development Corp.  Mission statement: The Hilo‑Hamakua Community Development Corporation is a  community‑driven organization formed for and by the people of Hilo‑Hamakua to: Support efforts that nurture our healthy communities;  Serve as a clearinghouse regarding economic development; and Act as a focal point for strengthening the community's economic base.
